Most people do not get in trouble because they meant to. They get in trouble because nobody ever told them the rule. This is us trying to tell you the rule.
Read this part. This is general information. It is not legal advice, and nobody here is your lawyer. If something real is happening to you, talk to a licensed attorney or a legal aid office. There are free ones, and they are listed at the bottom of this page.
We are building this in the open. Almost everything below is marked not verified, and that is not us being modest. It means no qualified person has checked it against the official source yet. Until somebody does, this page will not tell you what the law says. It will tell you what to do, what to write down, and where the real answer lives.

These are not us. They are the people who actually do this, and several of them are free. This list is built into the page itself, so it is still here even on a day when everything else on this page breaks.
Three rules we wrote into the code
- An entry cannot show what the law says until somebody signs their name to it. There is no field in the data for a legal conclusion on an unverified entry, so there is nothing to accidentally publish.
- Every verified answer expires. After 90 days it flips itself to needs review, out loud, on the page. Legislatures meet every year, and an answer that was right in March can be wrong in July.
- Every entry links to the official source, so you never have to take our word for it and neither does the next person who checks.
