Volume 01 · philosophy · this never changes

The Pledge

There is no ticket to belong here. There is an oath. Take it and you are in the neighborhood, then you get a vote on what we build next.

Read it · mean it · then check it.

The Brokehella Oath

Six lines. No payment, no tier, no rope. Check every one and the coin is struck in your name.

  • PeaceI will not crush, shove, or climb over anyone to get closer to a stage. Nobody gets hurt so I can have a better view.
  • LoveIf someone is on the ground, overheated, lost, or scared, I stop what I am doing. Every single time. No exceptions for a good song.
  • UnityI keep one seat open. If someone got priced out, they eat at my table and I do not make it weird.
  • RespectI leave the block better than I found it. The neighbors who live here did not buy a ticket and still have to wake up on Monday.
  • ReceiptsI will ask where the money went, and I expect a real answer. If Brokehella will not show me, I will say so out loud.
  • Broke, not brokenI am not here because I could not afford somewhere better. I am here because this is better.

Neighbor

You are in the neighborhood. This coin lives in your browser. Nobody took your money and nobody sold your name. Bring the serial to the gate.

The Constitution

Things we never do.
Things we always do.

These are not aspirations. They are the terms of the deal, and you are allowed to hold us to every line.

✕ We never

  • Charge for drinking water. Ever. Not once, not "at the premium bar."
  • Add a fee after you have seen the price.
  • Sell a tier that lets money skip a human being in a line.
  • Pay an artist later than 72 hours because our cash flow is our problem, not theirs.
  • Quietly delete a complaint, a bad grade, or a mistake from this site.
  • Take a sponsorship that requires us to break any line above.
  • Let a vendor price a basic meal out of reach of the people in the crowd.
  • Use "community" in a sentence where we mean "customers."

◆ We always

  • Publish the budget, including the parts that make us look bad.
  • Grade every event against the Standard and post the grade whether or not we passed.
  • Keep one seat open at every table for someone who got priced out.
  • Answer info@brokehella.com like a person, not a ticket queue.
  • Tell you what a feature exists to fix, and whose complaint it came from.
  • Pay volunteers in real things: food, water, transit, training, credit by name.
  • Leave the block cleaner than we found it, on our own dime.
  • Say "we got that wrong" in public, with the fix and the date.
The tie-breaker

When two good things conflict, the person with the least power in the room wins. That is the whole tie-breaker. It has never needed a second rule.

The Pledge Race · one neighbor, one vote

You do not get a survey.
You get a vote.

Whatever leads when the race closes gets built first and gets a line in the public budget.

Two numbers on every proposal, and they never get added together. Counted is people who sent theirs in and were counted by hand. Yours is what you have picked in this browser, which is instant because it is on your device, and which has not reached us until you send it.

Stage lineup · one neighbor, one vote

Every stage gets its own ballot.

Voltage is the main stage, but it is not the only one, and each stage votes separately. That means the crowd that shows up for one sound and the crowd that shows up for a completely different one are both picking their own lineup, not fighting over the same one.

Yes, that tends to sort people by genre. That is not a problem to solve. It means the Voltage crowd and the Lantern crowd can each get exactly what they came for, and it means somebody who only ever listens to one thing walks past a stage doing something else and might actually stop. That is a chance to hear something new, not a contest between camps. Majority rules on each stage, same as everywhere else on this page: one neighbor, one vote, and a bigger Reservoir commitment never buys a second one. If you want your pick to win, the only lever is the same one everyone else has — tell people. That is allowed, it is expected, and it is the only kind of marketing this page runs on.

Gear & clothing · funded from the Reservoir

Vote on what gets bought.

Sound gear, lighting, crew and volunteer apparel — whatever it is, it competes for the same Reservoir dollars as everything else on this page, and it gets decided the same way. Not who can pay the most: one neighbor, one vote, majority wins, and the money already committed above is what actually pays for it once something does.

The Pot · who is actually ready

Promises are cheap.
This one is counted.

How many people have said they are in, how many would buy a ticket, and how much has been committed. Counted by hand from what actually arrived, with the date attached, so you can tell a fresh number from an old one.

Add yourself

What are you ready to do?

Nothing here charges you and nothing here is a payment. It is a commitment, it lives on your device, and it reaches us only when you press send.

No ticket is on sale and no price is set. This is how many you would want.

The Copper Reservoir · only if you can

Every drop is
accounted for, out loud.

You never have to give a cent to belong here. If you do give, you get to see exactly where it lands. Before you give it, not in a report next year.

Move the amount and the split below recalculates. That split is the real one. It is the same one published in the budget.

0% to executive bonuses · 0% to a rope

Payment rails open with the season. For now this reaches us directly, no email app required, and falls back to opening one only if that fails.

Copper Patron · added 2026-08-19

This page said no VIP.
Here is what changed, and why.

For months this page, the homepage and Cargo City all said "no VIP," flatly. That claim was true and it is now out of date, on purpose, and we would rather say so here than let old copy quietly disagree with a new feature. The full change is logged on the Receipts page, dated, with a consequence attached if we ever break the part that did not change.

What did not change, ever, no exceptions: the long table at Founder's Square is never a paid perk. Water and the capped meal price are identical for every single person here regardless of tier. Those are not promises pending proof — they are hard constraints on what a Patron perk is allowed to be, checked against this list before anything ships.

What did change: a real, higher-priced tier now exists, with real perks, and every dollar of it is earmarked to the Escrow Gates free-seat line, not general revenue. The reasoning, plainly: it funds more free seats than the Reservoir alone reaches, without raising the one general admission price on the page. If that reasoning stops being true in practice, the Receipts page is where that gets posted too.

Same rule as everything else on this page: no payment rails yet, so this is a documented commitment, not a charge. Pressing a tier below sends us your intent and reaches us directly; nothing is billed.

Volume 04 · the Complaint Database

Our biggest advantage is
a well-organized list of
everything people hate.

We collect complaints from Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, Discord, surveys and our own gates. Then every single one runs the same pipe. No feature ships unless it can name the complaint it came from.

Complaint

"$18 chicken tenders."

Policy

Food affordability, a capped price for one real meal.

Feature

Local chef marketplace with published price ceilings.

Measurement

Average meal price stays under target, posted after every event.

If your complaint does not fit a category, that is the most useful message you can send us. New categories are how the Standard grows.
